About Us
Pawn X-Change/Maxit is one of the largest privately owned chains of pawnshops in the country. Founded in 1993 with a single store in North Seattle, the company has grown to 29 stores (and 270 employees) located in both Washington and Arizona. In Washington, we're known as Pawn X-Change. In Arizona, we use the name Maxit. Although the names are different you can be assured that all of our stores are the best in the industry.
Our success has been a result of always putting our customers first. We pride ourselves on the relationships we build with each and every customer. In a recent survey over 98% of our customers told us they were very satisfied or extremely satisfied with the service they have received. Additionally, 98% said they would recommend our services to a friend.
As we continue to grow, our philosophy will never change: provide exceptional service in a friendly, caring and professional environment while always recognizing the needs of our customers and treating them with dignity and respect.
Our History
| July 1993 | The first Pawn X-Change store is opened in North Seattle, WA |

| 1995 | Four additional stores are opened, bringing the total to six |
| August 1996 | To create a more "family friendly", firearms are no longer sold in the stores |
| 1996 | Two additional stores are opened, bringing the total to eight |
| 1997 | Four additional stores are opened, bringing the total to twelve |
| June 1998 | Loans on firearms are eliminated. The company is entirely "firearm" free |
| 1998 | Seven additional stores are opened, bringing the total to nineteen |
| 1999 | Three additional stores are opened, bringing the total to 22 |
| 2000 | The Maxit name brand is introduced for our four new stores in AZ |
| 2000-2004 | The company introduces many new initiatives to better serve our customers and streamline operations. Also, an intensive remodeling effort is completed to brighten up the stores. |
| 2005 | One new store is opened in WA, bringing the total store count to 25 |
| 2006 | Two new stores are opened, bringing the total store count to 27 |
| 2007 | Two new stores are opened, bringing the total store count to 29 |

When you first approach one our stores, you will see a well-lit parking lot and exterior. Upon entering the store, you will notice clean bright interiors and neatly arranged merchandise. You will be greeted by one of our well-trained associates wearing a professional uniform and a cheerful smile. We offer a family friendly environment with no firearms or adult materials. The Company believes that by creating an attractive atmosphere we can offer a pleasant environment for every member of your family, children an adults alike.
